Waiting List Positions Currently Available

We have been pleased to be able to offer opportunities for some new clients in the past few months but have now moved back into waiting list mode due to the continued high demand for services. We are currently only able to consider new clients who have some flexibility with days and times they can attend. After 4pm appointments are fully booked. Due to the high amount of circulating COVID we are currently asking that potential new clients are fully vaccinated.

Chris Attends Clinical College Conference

Chris recently attended the Australian Psychological Society's College of Clinical Psychologists' Conference in Brisbane. The event ran over 3 days and included many renowned speakers including Daniel Goleman, who popularised the term Emotional Intelligence.

Chris spoke about this particular presentation in a recent podcast episode.

How To Thrive Documentary Due for Release

Although it was included in last month's newsletter, we thought we'd again mention the release of the How to Thrive Documentary, which is due for limited cinema release in the next few months.

Chris has been involved in the production of this documentary over the past two years as a clinical psychologist consultant. He also has some cameo appearances in the documentary. The film documents the benefits of offering a comprehensive positive psychology group program to people with significant mental health problems.

The practice podcast, Psych Spiels and Silver Linings has continued to release weekly episodes.

Our most recent episode, episode 73, was Illuminating Emotional Intelligence. We discussed the often underemphasised aspect of emotional intelligence, which is an important element of our relationships, work and wellbeing.

In episode 72, Is it Time to Cut Out Complaining?, we asked whether there is any psychological benefit to complaining. We looked at how to find the balance between the positive benefits that come from expressing our grievances and the harm it can do to our mental health if we get stuck with negative thinking.

Episode 71, Metanoia: A Model for Breakdown and Growth, was a bit more of a philosophical topic that followed on from the previous episodes about a midlife crisis. We discussed the idea of a 'breakdown' and how we can use this seemingly negative opportunity to grow.

You can listen to the podcast on your favourite podcast player or at psychspiels.com.au
