How to Thrive Documentary To  Be Released

We're excited to announce initial screenings of the positive psychology documentary, How to Thrive, a practical guide to happiness, that will be showing in cinemas around Australia from the 6th of October. This includes a Red Carpet Premiere in Melbourne at 6:30pm on Thursday 13th October. Chris has been involved in the project primarily behind the scenes as a consultant and also with a cameo on-screen role.

There will be two screenings at Village Cinemas in Geelong on Monday 17th October and Sunday 23rd October at 4pm. The screening on the 23rd will be followed by a panel discussion including the director Duy Huynh, Chris Mackey and at least one of the participants. We encourage all those interested to attend. It is a compelling and ultimately uplifting portrait of seven individuals struggling with major  mental health  challenges.

You can also join the How to Thrive Facebook group for regular updates on the progress and screenings of  the documentary.

Tickets for can be purchased for upcoming screenings around Australia (including Geelong) via the following link.

The practice opinion pieces for the Geelong Advertiser continue on Mondays monthly.

The most recent article was:  The Power of Social Support

It suggests that psychological therapies need to go beyond an individualistic focus.

The practice podcast, Psych Spiels and Silver Linings has continued to release weekly episodes.

Our most recent episode was the second of a two-part series on the topic of failure. The first of the two episodes was called Reflecting on Failure as Feedback, which looked at the topic of failure and how we can best look at favour to give ourselves the best chance of success. In the second episode in the series, A Fellowship of Famous Failures, we developed this idea by looking at a number of famous people who had the perception of having failed before they became a success.

The episode before was called Dealing with a Driving Phobia. We looked at the topic of exposure therapy and how it can assist with a driving phobia. It followed on from a YouTube video on the same topic that has gathered over 40,000 views on YouTube demonstrating exposure therapy for a driving phobia.

You can listen to the podcast on your favourite podcast player or at psychspiels.com.au

If you've enjoyed the podcast, we would really appreciate it if you could rate and review and share the podcast with a friend as this will extend the reach to others who may benefit.

As well as keeping you up to date on all the latest news in the practice we will also be including some resources that you will hopefully find helpful. They include:

  • A meaningful quote
  • A framework from psychology that you may find useful
  • A helpful article
  • A good podcast
